Examination of this waveform in more detail shows that this voltage is equal to approximately 23.88 V while the transistor conducts, and approximately -0.69 V while the diode conducts. The transistor conducts with a duty cycle of D = 0.4. Compute the dc component of the switch node voltage.

The dc component Vsw is equal to the average value:
Vsw = D (value while transistor conducts) + (1 – D)(value while diode conducts)
= (0.4)(23.88)+(0.6)(-0.69) = 9.138 V
