Whenever the polarities of supply interchanges, then the rotation of the ceiling fan is in the reverse direction but if polarities of capacitor interchange nothing will happen. The ceiling fan capacitor is a non-polarized capacitor where the polarity does not matter.

The direction of rotation will remain the same, during 1st half cycle of supply, the phase will be positive and during the negative half cycle, neutral will be positive. And AC capacitors don’t have a polarity which doesn’t affect the rotation.
