Difference Between MCB, MCCB, RCCB, ELCB
The circuit breaker is a part of the equipment which can
- Break or make the circuit either by remote control or manually under normal conditions.
- Break the circuit or network automatically under fault conditions like overload and short circuit.
- Make a circuit either by remote control or manually under fault condition.
MCB (Miniature Circuit Breaker)
MCB holds for Miniature Circuit Breaker. It automatically switches OFF electrical lines during any abnormal situation in the electrical system such as overload & short circuit situations. But, the fuse may sense those situations but it should be replaced by MCB can be reset.
The MCB is an electromechanical mechanism that oversees the electric cables & electrical load upon overcurrent so as to withdraw any kind of fire or electrical accidents. Handling MCB is actually safer and it immediately returns the supply. If it comes to house applications, MCB is the usually favored option for overload and short circuit safeguard.
MCB can be reset so fast & doesn’t hold any maintenance cost. MCB operates on a bi-metal particular principle which gives protection upon overload current and solenoid short circuit current.
MCCB (Molded Case Circuit Breaker)
MCCB holds for Molded Case Circuit Breaker. It is a different type of electrical protection equipment that is utilized during the load current surpasses the limit of an MCB or miniature circuit breaker.
The MCCB affords protection upon overload, short circuit faults and is additionally utilized for switching circuits. It can be utilized for higher current rating and fault levels also in domestic applications. The broad current ratings and great breaking capacity in MCCB see their usage in industrial applications.Â
MCCBÂ can be utilized for the assurance or protection of capacitor bank, generator security, and foremost electric feeder distribution. It gives enough protection whenever an application needs discrimination, flexible overload setting, or earth fault protection.
RCCB (Residual Current Circuit Breaker)
RCCBÂ holds for Residual Current Circuit Breaker. The residual current device is essentially electrical line equipment that cuts the circuit whenever there is leakage of current flow in the Human body or that current is not balanced among the phase conductor.
It is the safest equipment to identify and trip on electrical leakage currents, thus guarantee protection upon electric shock produced by direct contacts. RCCB is commonly used in series with an MCB which preserves them of over current and short circuit current.
Both phase and neutral wires are connected by RCCB equipment. These are a remarkably effective form of shock protection & generally utilized for security from a leakage current of 30,100 & 300mA. It is a necessary lifesaving device utilized to guard the human body against electrical and is necessary many times for domestic installation.
ELCB (Earth Leakage Circuit Breaker)
ELCB holds for Earth Leakage Circuit Breaker. It holds the same function as RCCB but is a voltage sensor device. But, this is an exhausted or old technology and is not in common usage. RCCB holding current sensitive equipment has a better choice than ELCB.
Difference Between MCB, MCCB, RCCB, ELCB
SI.No | MCB | MCCB | RCCB | ELCB |
01. | It lasts for Miniature Circuit Breaker. | It lasts for Molded Case Circuit Breaker. | RCCB leads to ear holds for Residual Current Circuit Breaker. | ELCB holds for Electric Leakage Circuit Breaker. |
02. | Rated current is not higher than 125 Ampere. | Rated Current up to 1600A | It is a different name and leads to current operated devices. | ELCB leads to voltage-operated earth leakage devices. |
03. | Its interrupting current rating is below 10KA | Their interrupting current ranges of about 10KA -85KA | It guarantees 100% detection of leakage current and is ready to sense the AC as strong as DC leakage current. | It is not better as it can only identify current that flows back into the main earth wire. |
04. | Finding from their power capacities, MCB is essentially utilized for low Breaking capacity demands mainly domestic. | MCCB is essentially utilized for both low and high Breaking capacity demands mainly industrial. | RCCB holds no connection with the earth wire and the way it can trip when both currents (phase and neutral) are diverse and it resists up to both the currents are same. | ELCB is operating based on Earth leakage current. Those machines measured the voltage on the earth conductor; if this voltage was not zero this intimated a current leakage to the earth. |
05. | Its trip things are normally not flexible since they primarily cater to low circuits. | Its trip current may be set as well as flexible for overload and magnetic settings. | – | – |
