Mercedes-AMG GT 63 S E

The GT 63 S E Performance from Mercedes-AMG is about to be introduced in India. The GT four-door’s top-tier variation is this one. The fact that this automobile is a plug-in hybrid, as indicated by the E Performance badge, may disappoint AMG aficionados, but it has access to 843 horsepower and 1,470 pound-feet of torque. This makes it the most potent automobile to emerge from Affalterbach, capable of taking on even the present generation of middle-weight supercars.

Thanks to the massive Panamericana grille with vertical struts, the car can now be identified as an AMG in an instant. Three large holes are located in the lower portion of the nose and provide air to the engine. This car’s standard headlamps are Multibeam LEDs. The Mercedes-AMG GT 63 S E Performance flaunts the brand’s trademark aggressive styling.

Three contoured lines on the long hood give it a highly robust appearance. This one has the AMG forged 21-inch alloy wheels with Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires, one of four alloy wheel options. The long hood, four doors, and sloping roofline at the back are all carried over from the GT four-door coupe into the body’s design. The car has dimensions of 5,054mm in length, 1,953mm in width, and 1,447mm in height, with a 2,951mm wheelbase.

With the GT 63, Mercedes provides a few exterior accessory packs, including a night pack, a carbon fiber pack, and an aero pack. This specific version has the Carbon Fibre pack, which is visible on the headlight inserts, rear diffuser, side skirts, and front splitter. The Copper Orange Magno color that can be used on the exterior is one of seventeen variations.

The retractable wing, which is manually adjustable, is located in the back. The car’s lengthy taillamps encircle the sides of the vehicle. The twin-pipe trapezoidal exhausts and the diffuser are located in the lower part. Overall, the GT 63 S E Performance has a highly athletic appearance that complements the carbon fiber and the aggressive appearance of the car very well.

The fact that this vehicle’s powertrain uses an electric motor for the first time in an AMG sets it apart from many other full-fat AMGs. The V8 in the GT 63 S 4MATIC+ is the same M177 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 that makes 639 horsepower. With 204 horsepower, the electric motor is mounted toward the back. 843 horsepower of total power and a mind-blowing 1,470 Nm of torque are produced.

High-performance hybrids have been seen before, but this GT 63 S E Performance is a little more ingenious than that. The 6.1kWh battery pack and the electric motor are both installed on the rear axle by AMG’s engineers. It also contributes to the car’s desired 50:50 weight distribution.

6.1kWh, a small battery pack by hybrid standards today, can propel the vehicle up to 130kmph for 12 km. This hybrid, known as the HPB (High-performance battery), was created by AMG using innovations from Formula 1 while conventional hybrids employ the battery and the motor to relieve engine strain and so enhance fuel efficiency. The HPB can deliver a large quantity of energy to the motor quickly and charges up just as quickly as a typical PHEV battery because it has twice the power density. There is also a charging flap that you can use to recharge the battery pack if necessary.

AMG Ride Control+ air suspension with adaptive dampers, AMG rear-axle steering, AMG ceramic brakes, 4MATIC+ AWD, an electronically controlled limited-slip differential, and other performance-enhancing technologies are included in this full-fat AMG.

Like the exterior, the interior features a variety of sporty and AMG-specific elements, including the twin-display setup, which has AMG-specific screens on both displays, the electrically adjustable, heated, ventilated, and heated AMG seats, AMG-steering, AMG scuff plates, AMG floor mats, and AMG embossed on the seats. The screens have hybrid-specific ones that display energy flow and charge rate while driving.

The car comes with a large number of features, including 64-color ambient lighting, acoustic comfort package, glass roof, rear-passenger display, Burmester Audio system, ADAS, three-zone climate control, and ADAS.

Customers can choose between four different interior trim options for the dashboard and door inserts, as well as up to fourteen different interior trim options for the seats. The specific version you can see in these pictures has the AMG matt carbon fiber trim, which gives the inside a very athletic vibe.

The 12.3-inch infotainment display and a completely digital instrument display are both part of the MBUX system. One may monitor the power, temperature, battery temperature, battery charge, powertrain output, and other data on both of these displays, which also have AMG-specific screens and hybrid-specific screens.

The Porsche Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid is the Mercedes-AMG GT 63 S E Performance’s sole natural competition. This also makes use of a 4.0-liter V8 and an electric motor to produce a combined 700 horsepower and 870 Nm of torque. With a 0-100kmph sprint speed of 5.3 seconds, the Porsche lags behind in terms of performance. Pricing for the Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid is Rs 2.75 crore. (ex-showroom).

On April 11, Mercedes will introduce the vehicle. Expect the price to be slightly higher than the Rs. 2.7 crore Mercedes-AMG GT 63 S 4MATIC+. (ex-showroom).
