How The Tesla Car Works, Working Of Tesla Car, Autonomous Vehicle

Tesla Cars Are hybrid electrical vehicles these days. The popular model of Tesla is Tesla Model S. The working of Tesla model S is divided into two main divisions as Electrical division and Auto-pilot Mechanism. Now let us go through the main principles behind the work of the two divisions.

Electrical Components In Tesla Car

The Tesla Model S looks like a Roadster model so the base of the car is flat. The main electrical components used in the car are Panasonic’s Lithium-ion cylindrical battery set, an Induction motor, Digital controlled electrical braking assistance, an Inverter, and the battery cooling system.

The batteries are used for providing power to the motor. The batteries used in the car are 7000 Panasonic cylindrical-shaped Lithium-ion batteries. These are placed on the flat bottom surface of the car to maintain the center of gravity and balancing the car. The Inverter is used for converting the dc incoming supply from the batteries and converts into ac and provides input to the 3 phase Induction motor.

The output of the motor is 297KW which is higher than the Internal Combustion Engine (ICEs) and it only weighs 31.8kgs which is 5 times less than the weight of the ICEs. The motor did not need any gears to shift so the driving of the car becomes simple. The controlled electrical braking system is also efficient and it can also be controlled digitally. To maintain the balance the batteries are placed on the flat bottom of the car.

To cool the batteries the glycol tubes are snaked through the gaps of the electric batteries. The cooling of the electric batteries will give a longer life to batteries. The batteries are charged at the electrical car charging stations. With the use of an induction motor, the speed of the car will be high as the motor used to drive the wheels to have high rpm. This is how the Tesla car works as an Electric car.

AutoPilot Mechanism

Key features of auto-pilot mechanism

  • A forward-facing radar

  • 12 – long-range ultrasonic sensors
  • Digitally controlled Electrical braking system
  • Rear view camera of maximum 50m distance
  • 3 On board Computer Processors are used to store the sensor data

Autopilot is the future of driving. The Tesla Model S has a forward-facing radar that senses around 250m forward obstacles. The cameras are all around the car which covers a maximum of 300 meters around the car. The long-range Ultrasonic sensors are used to sense the vehicles around the car maximum of 8 meters covered around the car.

The High vision technology is used by Tesla to use the camera according to the requirement. The high neural network is developed by Tesla to control them from one place. The sensed data will be processed 40 times faster than the previous generating systems of the other companies. The stored data will be managed as per the software developed in the Tesla car.

The Tesla car Auto-pilot system operates when the minimum speed of the car reaches 20mph. The auto-pilot system drives the car in the center lane of the road. The braking system is also digitally managed. The auto-pilot will not work when the road markings are not clear. The system warns to take the driving into control to the driver, if the person does not take control then the car will slowly come to the break and sides the car and stops. The auto-pilot is majorly used for the Parkings and highway drives.

The auto-pilot will not work in heavy traffic as the speed will be very less. The driver can handle the steering and can handle the drive to auto-pilot by just contacting the hand with steering. The sensors, cameras, and braking assistances make the auto-pilot work efficiently. This is how the auto-pilot mechanism works in the electrical car. To activate autopilot you have to recharge it as you do it for mobile internet.

This is the main working principle behind the Tesla Model S which is produced by the Tesla Electrical Automobile division.
