The main components of overhead lines are:
- Conductors: The purpose of the conductor is to carry electric power from the sending end station to the receiving end station.
- Supports are nothing but poles or towers to keep the conductors at a suitable level above the ground.
- Insulator’s function is to attach to supports and insulate the conductors from the ground.
- Cross arms function is to provide support to the insulators.
- Miscellaneous items such as danger plates, phase plates, lightning arrestors, anti-climbing wires, Street lights, etc.
