Types of Substation ( Depending on purpose)

  • Generating /Step up substation.
  • Grid Substation ( intermediate b/n gen & load centers).
  • Secondary Substation ( main grid & sec transmission).
  • Distribution Substation.
  • Special purpose Substation( traction and mining ).

Types of Substation ( Depending on physical features)

  • Outdoor (33kV and above)
  • Indoor (400V to 11Kv)
  • Pole mounted (up to 500kVA)
  • Underground (Space not available)
