The ignition timing advance is also known as spark advance. The ignition timing advance refers to the number of degrees before top dead center (BTDC) that the spark will ignite the air-fuel mixture in the combustion chamber during the compression stroke. The ignition map gives the information about spark advance angle based on engine load and engine rpm.
