The differential gear in the driving axles of a vehicle allows the wheel on the inside of a corner to rotate more slowly than the wheel on the outside of the corner. However, this same differential action can start to lose traction (wheel spin). If for some reason one driving wheel is on a slippery surface this wheel will spin and the wheel on the other side of the axle will standstill. As a result, the vehicle loses traction. The TCS tries to restore the traction. Traction control enables the brake to be applied to the wheel on the slippery surface. Hence more torque reaches the other wheel. This helps the vehicle to move. TCS can be for front wheels or back wheels or all four wheels based on FWD or RWD or AWD.
