Mahindra Automotive is poised to make waves in the electric vehicle (EV) market with the launch of its latest lineup of innovative electric SUVs. The company recently showcased its futuristic BE 6e and XEV 9e models at the grand “Mahindra Unlimit Event” held in Chennai. These SUVs are built on the in-house-developed INGLO platform, a name symbolizing Mahindra’s commitment to both India (IN) and a global (GLO) vision.

The INGLO platform has been meticulously engineered to excel in diverse driving conditions, combining global standards with Indian realities. It offers optimized architecture, smart packaging, and advanced features, all aimed at providing an exceptional driving experience. Key attributes include top-tier safety measures, high performance, impressive range, and outstanding efficiency.
Market Entry and Delivery Timeline
Mahindra plans to introduce the BE 6e and XEV 9e in the Indian EV market by January next year, with deliveries expected to begin by February 2025.
Design Philosophy: A Ground-Up Approach
Pratap Bose, Mahindra’s Design Head, emphasized the innovative design process for these SUVs. “This was a blank-sheet project, allowing us to explore every design element meticulously—from materials and colors to digital processes and functional aspects,” he shared.
Pricing Strategy: Mass-market and Premium Segments
Mahindra aims to cater to both mass-market and premium buyers through its BE and XEV brands.
- The XEV 9e, positioned as a luxury offering, starts at ₹21.90 lakh for the Pack 1 variant. Global pricing ranges from ₹50 lakh to ₹70 lakh.
- The BE 6e, a more compact and sporty SUV, starts at ₹18.90 lakh for the introductory variant. Prices for other trims will be announced later.

The XEV 9e features two LFP battery pack options:
- 59 kWh: Produces 231 bhp.
- 79 kWh: Generates 286 bhp.
Both batteries support 175 kW DC fast charging, enabling a 20%-80% charge in just 20 minutes.

The BE 6e and XEV 9e sport striking designs and advanced features:
- BE 6e: Compact and sporty with sharp lines, angular elements, and 20-inch alloy wheels in top trims.
- XEV 9e: Elegant and sophisticated with connected LED lighting, a sloping roofline, jewel-like headlights, and a glowing logo.

- Steering Wheel: Features illuminated logos, haptic buttons, and paddle shifters.
- Gearshift Levers: Differentiated for each SUV.
