Top 10 Renewable Energy Power Plants In World
Nowadays people are mainly focusing on renewable energy sources for power generation due to a shortage of non-renewable energy sources and one of the main reasons is Global warming which is caused by the burning of fossil fuels in non-renewable energy plants. Renewable energy power plants are pollution-free and eco-friendly to nature due to all sources used in plants are acquired from nature. Majorly used Renewable energy sources are Solar, Wind, Tidal, and Ocean energy sources.
The world’s largest renewable power plants are Solar power plants. Solar is one of the fastest-growing energy sources in the world main advantage of solar power plants is comparing to other renewable plants they generate a bulk amount of power. Hence countries all over the world are competitively constructing solar power plants for a bulk amount of power generation and one of the new technologies used is solar plants on floating water. Now let us see about the world’s largest renewable power plants.
10. TOPAZ SOLAR FARM, US-550MW
Topaz solar farm is also called Desert Sunlight solar farm located in San Luis Obispo County, California, US. This project is commissioned in 2014. It is the first renewable energy power plant in the world and covers an area of 4700 acres with a running capacity of 550MW. Solar farm consists of 8million solar panels and approximately supplies electricity to 180000 households in California.
09. KAMUTHI SOLAR POWER STATION, INDIA-650MW
The Kamuthi solar power station is located in Tamilnadu, India has spread over an area of 2471 acres with working capacity of 650 MW. It consists of 2.5 million solar panels which approximately supply enough power to 700000 people in Tamilnadu. The power station is constructed in 2016 at an approximate cost of $700 million.
