Similar to Facebook, Instagram displays ads across the board, in feeds, stories, explore, and other areas of the app. They have a similar appearance to regular postings, but they are always marked as sponsored to make that distinction clear. Additionally, they frequently include more features than a standard post, including links, CTA buttons, and product catalogs.
I’m here to tell you that you shouldn’t ignore Instagram today! Instagram is the family’s breakout star who everyone wants to sit next to at the Thanksgiving table, despite the fact that it is younger and has fewer users than its parent company Facebook. Instagram offers a platform for sharing visual narratives through a variety of ad formats, and many advertisers have observed that this channel produces a higher return on investment than their other advertising campaigns.
Instagram advertising is a way to buy the right to publish sponsored content on the Instagram platform in order to reach a larger and more specific audience. There are many reasons for a company or person to elect to promote, but Instagram advertising is frequently used to increase brand awareness, and website traffic, produce new leads and drive existing leads through the sales funnel (and hopefully towards converting).
Instagram is primarily a visual platform, so text ads are not present. To reach your audience using Instagram advertisements, you should instead use an image, collection of photographs, or video (which may include text).
Is Instagram Advertising the Best Option for Your Company?
The logical next question is: Who uses Instagram? Are just teens posting selfies online? Are the twenties looking for cooking instructions? How about the senior population? Do they “gram” their kids and grandkids?
Instagram does, unfortunately, skew towards a more youthful audience, with the largest percentage of users falling in the age range of 18-29 (55%), followed by 30-49 years of age (28%). This is bad news for all of you marketers aiming at the grandparent demographic. Only 4% of adults over 65 use Instagram, and only 11% of users are between the ages of 50 and 64.
According to Hootsuite, the bulk of Instagram users live in cities (32%), followed by suburbs (28%), and rural areas (18%). Even though there are more women than men on Instagram, there is less of a gender disparity now than there formerly was.
Even if this group doesn’t fit your target demographic, you shouldn’t disregard social media as a waste of time.
What Are the Prices of Instagram Ads?
Given that costs depend on a number of factors, which you may have guessed are not all disclosed to us by the platform, this is a difficult question to answer. The pricing is based on Instagram’s ad auction and is based on CPC (cost-per-click) and CPM (cost-per-impression) values.
