transmission – distribution network fundamentals

I start doing some works with transmission / distribution network and would like to get familiar with network structure, operation, composition, elements… herein. Because technology has been advancing much, reading books myself may be not enough. Can anybody show me where to read to know fundamentals of such network, including substation, primary and secondary sides: 1) network topology 2) equipment/ device/ apparatus structure; 3) role, operation principle of network elements, how they coordinates operation , etc.
