Big Data

Evolution of Technology

Earlier we were using the telephone, bulky desktops for storing data, and nonautomatic cars but now we are using smartphones, cloud service for storing da_ta, and smart cars. Due to this enhancement of technology, we are generating a lot amount of dat_a. For example, take your phone, do you know how much data is getting generated due to your smartphone? Well, every action that you’re doing like watching a video on Youtube or sending a message to your friend through an app that generates da_ta. This was just an example, you don’t have an idea how much da_ta is getting generated by you.

When we talk about IoT (Internet Of Things) it is also generating a huge amount of dat_a. IoT means connecting your physical devices with the internet to make them smart. Nowadays, every home appliance is connected to the internet such as a TV, AC, washing machine, fridge, etc, and each device connected to the internet is generated a huge da_ta. This was one more example of da_ta. Let’s move to social media.

Nowadays, people are busy using social media and daily many people will upload photos, videos, and do messages on social media this will again generate a huge amount of dat_a.

There are many ways the da_ta is getting generated and this dat_a is unstructured dat_a and at the same time, it is huge in size. These dat_a are unstructured and huge in size so it is called big data. Suppose you are buying a watch on amazon or Flipkart, here again, your da_ta will be generated. There are many other examples there. The da_ta is also generated due to banking, finance, entertainment, etc. Now, let’s see what exactly is big data and how we consider data as big data.

Definition of Big Data

Big Data is the term for a collection of data sets so huge or large and complex that it becomes difficult to process using on-hand database system tools or traditional da_ta processing applications. Well, big da_ta is a collection of da_ta and it is so huge and complex that it becomes difficult to process using on-hand da_tabase system tools or any other traditional data processing applications.

Can we say that our traditional systems are a drawback because they are too old to process this huge da_ta? No, our old system was designed at that time where the data generated was less. But, now the da_ta is like a disease in our body that will be cured with medicines. Unstructured data can be cured with the help of big data analytics. Well, guys, how to consider some da_ta as big data, how do we classify it, and how to identify which kind of da_ta is hard to process. It is classified based on volume, variety, speed of data generated, the value of data, etc.

The volume of da_ta is rising day by day this is also the main factor, variety means dat_a is generated in different formats like audio, video, and text format, speed of the da_ta generating is very fast as the world is moving towards the internet, the value of da_ta means the data generated must provide value to the business to grow.

Opportunity in Big data

It is a great opportunity for business owners to analyze their customer’s needs or requirements. By adopting big da_ta analytics, the organization can take future decisions.

  1. Cost-effective storage system for big or huge da_ta sets.
  2. It offers ways to analyze the information or da_ta quickly and make decisions.
  3. Evaluation of customer requirements and satisfaction.
  4. Automated car and body operations in hospitals.

Hadoop

Hadoop is a framework that allows people to store and process large da_ta sets in a distributed and parallel fashion. There are normally two parts, one is HDFS (Hadoop distributed file system) for storage. The HDFS allows dumping any kind of da_ta across a cluster. The second one is MapReduce, which allows parallel processing of the dat_a in the Hadoop distributed file system (HDFS)

Applications Of Big Data

  1. Fraud & Risk Detection
  2. Healthcare
  3. Internet Search
  4. Targeted Advertising
  5. Website Recommendations
  6. Advanced Image Recognition
  7. Speech Recognition
  8. Airline Route Planning
  9. Gaming
  10. And many more

I hope this article Big Data may help you a lot. Thank you for reading this article.
