Applications Of MATLAB Simulink

Simulink refers to a kind of block diagram environment that is used for Model-Based Designing. It provides the user with a customizable block library and graphical editors. It is more interactive to the user. On the other hand, MATLAB refers to a coding-based approach. In short, we can say that Simulink is a graphical extension to MATLAB which is widely used for the simulation and modeling of systems. Simulink has been integrated with MATLAB in such a way that it enables the users to incorporate the MATLAB algorithms into useful models.

The use of the MATLAB Simulink is increasing day by day. Some of the well-known categories in which the MATLAB Simulink is used are Automotive Applications, Aerospace Applications, Industrial Automation Applications, Signal Processing, Complex Logic, and Discrete- Event Simulation. Earlier, MATLAB was only used as a tool for simulating various electrical networks.

But now with a lot of development and advancement, it has become a competitive tool that can be easily used in fields of Artificial Intelligence, Data Analytics, Machine Learning, Robotics, and Wireless Communication. The detailed top 12 applications of the MATLAB Simulink are as follows:

12. Machine Learning (AI) and Statics

Computational Methods to learn the information directly for the data are widely used in Machine Learning Algorithms. This method the machine learning even does not rely on the predetermined equation as a model. Therefore, a number of examples and pretrained networks make the use of MATLAB more and more general. Similarly, the Statistics and Machine learning Toolbox make the use of AI and Statistics very handy, especially for programmers.

11. Deep Learning

The Deep Learning functionality can be easily implemented in the MATLAB Simulink. It is done by using the blocks from the Deep Neural Networks Library of the MATLAB Simulink and the MATLAB Function Blocks. MATLAB Simulink builds a good number of Deep Learning Models with minimal code.

10. Technical Computation

MATLAB Toolbox provides users with a number of tools for mathematical and technical computation. These MATLAB Simulink tools are used in various complex mathematical calculations like data analysis, matrix manipulation, and algorithm development.

09. Control System

MATLAB Simulink provides users with the Control System Toolbox. It is used for designing automatic control systems. It helps in developing the Model-built design system and control-design system. Users can easily analyze the control, simulation, and algorithm. It especially helps in simulating the feedback control system. In fact, the Control System and the Instrumentation Engineers use MATLAB Simulink at each and every stage of development.

08. Signal Processing

MATLAB Simulink also has the tools for image and data processing. It has a signal processing system toolbox, which is useful for the video, image, and audio processing system. The combination of block diagrams and language-based programming is used in the designing of signal processing systems.

07. Embedded System

There is a subset of MATLAB named Embedded MATLAB. This subset of MATLAB is used for the technical computing of languages. It helps in generating the C code directly from the MATLAB algorithms. Embedded Coder is also present in the MATLAB Simulink.

Communication System: There is also a Toolbox in the MATLAB Simulink for the Communication System. The name of that MATLAB Simulink Toolbox is The Communication Toolbox. It is generally used in the industries like telephonic systems, telecommunications systems, and various computer peripherals systems. It is used in designing and simulating multidomain models from various fields like Signal Processing, Analog/Mixed-signal, and RF elements.

06. Aerospace System

In the field of the Aerospace System, MATLAB Simulink is used for modeling, simulating, and analyzing aerospace vehicle dynamics. It uses the Aerospace Blockset. One can easily incorporate the vehicle dynamics, model pilot behavior, and validate the models of the flight. It would also help in connecting the model to the Flight Gear Flight Simulator for the visualization of the simulation results.

05. Medical, Pharmaceutical Field:

Scientists use MATLAB Simulink in the pharmaceutical industry. It is used in optimizing pharmaceutical production through process engineering. It also helps in performing the modeling and simulation of drug discovery and development.

04. Biotechnology

Biotechnical Engineers use the MATLAB Simulink in the field of Biotechnology. They hybridize data from a number of data streams like signals, images, text, and genetics. It helps the engineers in exploring the clean data sets in biotech research. It uses app-based workflows to develop a streamlined analysis scheme. It also synthesizes multimodal data sources and the Internet of Things for building predictive analytical models.

03. Financial Modelling and Analysis

MATLAB Simulink also has a Toolbox for the purpose of Financial modeling and analysis. The Financial Toolbox of the Matlab Simulink provides users with useful functions for the mathematical modeling and statistical analysis of financial data. With the help of the Financial Toolbox, one can easily analyze, backtest, and optimize the investment portfolios. There is also a MATLAB computational Finance Suite which is a collection of 12 essential products. This Finance suite helps in developing quantitative applications for the risk management system and investment management system.

02. Electric Vehicles Designing

MATLAB Simulink is widely used in the Electric Vehicle Industry. It is mainly used in the modeling of electric vehicles and analyzing their performance by changing the system inputs. MATLAB Simulink helps in the Speed torque comparison, designing, and simulating the vehicle.

01. AUTOSAR

AUTOSAR Blockset delivers an AUTOSAR editor, dictionary, and blocks for designing Classic Platform and Adaptive Platform AUTOSAR software by utilizing Simulink® standards. You can specify AUTOSAR software element properties, interfaces, and data types, and map them to existing Simulink models utilizing the AUTOSAR editor.

Last but now least, I can say that the MATLAB Simulink is widely used in a number of fields. Even if one is a Doctor, Engineer, Researcher, industrialist, student, or teacher, one must come across the need of using a MATLAB Simulink. Nowadays, the use of MATLAB Simulink has increased exponentially. Therefore, one should learn the use of MATLAB Simulink.
